    Aerojet Rocketdyne has an Accounting and Financial Support position available at our Huntsville, AL location.


    In this role, you will perform a variety of moderately complex support tasks in accordance with specific instructions and established work procedures. This individual will audit expense reports in the central queue focusing on proper accounting codes, approvals and required supporting documentation in accordance with company directives, guidelines and policies.


    This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    100% - Working under minimal supervision, perform audit and support duties related to travel and expense reports:

    • Perform back office audit on all expense reports in the central queue focusing on the following: proper accounting (e.g. expense type and classification as allowable versus unallowable), support for approval if required, and all other required supporting documentation (e.g. receipts, foreign currency translation, approval for foreign travel, and any other documents to support exceptions) in accordance with company policies.
    • Be knowledgeable of company directives regarding proper travel, expense reporting and reimbursement, and P-Card purchases rules and requirements.
    • Provide guidance to employees regarding travel and expense and reimbursement procedures, technical issues, and requested routine permissions. Assist employees and supervisor in resolving issues. Elevate issues as necessary to manager.
    • Interface with internal customers to ensure proper project charging (e.g. account coding) and payment information is accurately reported.
    • May assist in the administration of online expense reporting system or generate related reports.


    Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 7 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of this position).


    US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.


     Additional Requirements:

    • Knowledge of general audit procedures for expense reporting.
    • Proficiency with Concur or other expense reporting system.
    • Ability to read and comprehend policies and compliance requirements outlined in company directives. Must be able to facilitate employee understanding of these requirements through excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to learn system functionality to be able to assist customers and report issues.


    Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

    Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
