At Aerojet Rocketdyne, our people further the exploration of space! We develop and manufacture rocket engines in Redmond, Washington that are used on satellites, space probes and other spacecraft. We are currently seeking an Engineering Technician with knowledge of contamination control techniques and processes. This is a swing shift position, but candidates must have the ability and willingness to work other shifts and overtime as needed to meet production schedules.
This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.
30% - Sets up and operates various types of instrumentation to maintain and monitor contamination control and cleanliness initiatives. The contamination control program includes processes such as, air cleanliness, non-volatile residue testing and particulate sampling. Duties include particulate inspection, laminar flow integrity, garment control, tooling cleanliness, packaging/protective devices practices and building hardware with environmental controls.
20% - Supports a variety of contamination control and/or manufacturing related tasks including assisting with troubleshooting problems, incident reporting, failure investigations, training, report preparation, etc.
20% - Performs complex/precision mechanical assembly and test of valves or other components/products as assigned. Read and interpret product drawings and department procedures.
15% - Provides suggestions to create, update and/or enhance foreign object debris (FOD) prevention and cleanliness processes throughout the manufacturing area. Work with Cleanroom process owner to control and monitor the area.
15% - Other duties as assigned, such as but not limited to support of new production initiatives and schedules.
Requires an Associate’s degree in an appropriate discipline and 1 year of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education).
US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel items. The employee is regularly expected to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
