    We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our Culpeper, VA facility.

     

    This position can be filled at this level or one level higher.

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    Working under general direction, performs professional manufacturing engineering assignments requiring full use and application of standard manufacturing principles, theories, concepts and techniques.

     

    The successful individual will be responsible for providing manufacturing engineering support for production solid rocket motor programs through the application of established manufacturing engineering procedures. Assist in developing and implementing processing improvements. Assignments may involve supporting experimental investigations, feasibility studies and assisting in the planning of resources to support production requirements.

     

    40% - Prepare and maintain detailed manufacturing instructions including repair/rework instructions within a closed-loop nonconformance system. Collect input from Project Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Safety, Health and Environmental (SH&E) representatives and incorporate those aspects within the manufacturing instructions.

     

    20% - Perform technical oversight and troubleshooting of complex operations involved in assembly of electrical and mechanical components.

     

    15% - Analyze and develop practical solutions to specific manufacturing problems utilizing analytical skills and sound manufacturing engineering techniques. Accurately report problems, solutions, and results in concise written and oral communications.

     

    15% - Assist with the design of tooling for fabrication and assembly processes. Recommend changes in design to facilitate cost effective fabrication. Assist in the preparation of detailed processing plans and process flow diagrams.

     

    10% - Assist in preparing for and participate in process reviews. Participate in design reviews. Interface with internal/external customers.

    Requirements

    Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably in one of the following majors: Aerospace, Chemical, Manufacturing or Mechanical) and at least 5 years of directly related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

     

    Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).  Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information.  Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

     

    Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated ability in manufacturing, the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and interpret and evaluate analytical and experimental data expected.
    • Must be able to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with all levels of personnel both internal and external to the company.
    • Ability to work in a team environment will be expected.
    • Experience working with energetic materials is preferred.
    • Experience with Statistical Process Control, Six Sigma Manufacturing Methodologies, and Digital Factory are preferred.
    • Experience with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) is expected. Experience with Oracle is preferred.

     

     

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

    The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, shop coat.  Job duties may occasionally require the use of an air-purifying, full-face respirator.   May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
