    This position is located off-site in the Indianapolis, IN. area. Must live in or near Indianapolis. The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that delivered products and/or services conform to contractual and the Company’s requirements by designing, implementing, evaluating and continually improving quality assurance and control methods and systems. The Senior Quality Engineer (SQE) will translate design drawings and contractual requirements into a comprehensive, understandable and functional quality plan; monitor and closely support manufacturing, inspection and supplier functions that relate to product quality; coordinate with the customer the establishment of government quality requirements and material review board activities; represent quality assurance in corrective action activities; and participate in audits or product evaluation to determine the effectiveness of the quality assurance program.

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    25% - Supplier engagements performing investigation and root cause analysis to drive improvements into their processes. SQE is accountable for assigned suppliers' performance and ensuring suppliers are performing with a 100% quality rating.


    25% - Suppliers management activities involving interface with internal and external customers; i.e., engineering, manufacturing, supplier, procurement to ensure requirements are met. Analyze supplier processes and planning to verify compliance with purchase orders, engineering drawings, processes, specifications, etc. Develop, maintain and deliver required reporting expectations in support of internal meetings and organization requirements.


    15% - Supplier engagement reviews targeting technical and quality and other contractual requirements to ensure the supplier has an adequate understanding prior to developing their manufacturing plan. Follow up reviews to ensure planning is adequate and that flowed requirements are addressed. This includes, pre-award, post award, manufacturing readiness and other periodic reviews as requested.


    15% - Work with suppliers to resolve issues with purchase order inspection packages. Investigate and report supplier quality history as requested by quality engineering or Quality & Mission Assurance (Q&MA) management.


    10% - Participates in managing the supplier ratings/scorecard system and overseeing periodic meetings.


    10% - Work closely with Planners, Program Quality Engineers, and Receiving Inspection to resolve supplier issues.


    Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality or other appropriate discipline and five (5) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


    US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.


    Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in manufacturing and/or inspections required.
    • Strong problem solving, RCCA and investigation experience required.
    • Certified Quality Engineer strongly preferred.
    • Ability to synthesize and analyze data from several sources and develop a plan to take action based upon the data.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a close-knit team environment.
    • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
    • Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the organization (as required).
    • Maintain and continue to elevate relationships with Business Development, Engineering, Operations, Customer Service and all other facets of the company.
    • Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to various regulatory and internal system requirements.
    • Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organization.
    • Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. to provide constructive recommendations and initiate actions to support company initiatives/goals.
    • Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values.
    • Keep management informed of activities and of any significant problems.
    • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned notify in advance when conflicts are identified.
    • Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.


    Driver's License Requirement:

    Some positions may require possession of a valid driver’s license. Employees who drive on company business to carry out job-related duties must possess a valid driver’s license for the class of vehicle driven and meet automobile insurability requirements of the Company.     Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

    Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
