    The Senior Specialist, Business Development - Advanced Power Group, is a recognized leader at Aerojet Rocketdyne and has overall responsibilities for planning, directing, and coordinating business development. This position develops, implements, and monitors business development and program policies and procedures and complies with pertinent regulations. This involves significant customer interface to identify areas of opportunity and develop Aerojet Rocketdyne's position. As opportunities materialize, the Senior Specialist is responsible for establishing win strategies. In this role, you will also foster ethical conduct, practices, and personal integrity throughout Aerojet Rocketdyne to ensure the company’s ability to attract and retain customers in a highly competitive environment. This position will be located at our facility in Canoga Park,

    CA (Los Angeles area).

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    30% - Meet and interface with senior level NASA, DoD and prime contractor executives. Provide focal point program interface with customers. Participate in technical meetings for internal and external representatives concerning organizational projects. Represent the organization in meetings, conferences, and workshops, as assigned.

    20% - Oversee development and implementation of business strategies for new products and technologies. Be responsible for marketing new technology or follow-on business acquisition. Strategic plan inputs and managing tasks of strategic importance to the product area. Approve annual business plan and program budget and schedules.

    15% - Oversee internally funded discretionary programs, particularly IRAD.

    15% - Direct and manage externally funded advanced programs.

    10% - Support development of Aerojet Rocketdyne Technology Roadmap and other internal executive level plans.

    10% - Interface with Aerojet Rocketdyne senior level management as required.

    Requirements

    This is a senior-level position requiring a Bachelor's degree in a related technical or business field and fourteen (14) years of experience in managing a successful business development function or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree preferred.

    US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

    Additional Requirements/Qualifications:

    • Ability to direct and control overall organizational resources.
    • Considerable initiative and organizational skills.
    • Ability to drive convergence and resolution to challenges of substantial importance to the Company.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Extensive experience in an Aerospace and Defense manufacturing environment with program diversity ranging from complex development to rate production.
    • Ability to travel for customer/stakeholder meeting and relevant conferences.
    • Experience with space electrical power systems and/or electric propulsion is preferred.

     

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

    Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
