Facilities Engineering & Planning, at the Aerojet Rocketdyne Los Angeles Site, is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer with a Professional Engineering (PE) license with experience in Project Engineering and Design for the installation and modifications of Manufacturing and Process equipment, HVAC systems, Plumbing, Process Piping, and Clean Pressurized gas systems.
This current position may be filled at this level as posted or one level higher.
Working under limited general direction:
30% - Lead and support Facilities Projects in the development of Mechanical Engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates for Equipment Acquisitions, Facility renovations, and Construction projects.
10% - Interface with A&E firms and Construction Contractors.
20% - Review and approve construction documents and contractor submittals.
10% - Maintain as-built drawings and records.
10% - Interpret and apply codes.
20% - Support Maintenance staff in trouble shooting and technical issues as required.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, and five (5) years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment/Physical requirements:
The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps). While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
