    Aerojet Rocketdyne- Los Angeles is seeking a Quality Process Manager to lead the Manufacturing Process Inspection Team. This leader is responsible for the performance of 1st shift manufacturing in-process inspection required to support all current and future program needs, accomplishing results through non-exempt and exempt staff.  This position monitors work operations on a daily basis and actively assists or provides direction to direct reports.

     

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    This position supervises day to day inspection activities at the Aerojet Rocketdyne Los Angeles site in support of machining, chemical and heat processing operations during 1st shift. 

     

    50% - Directing daily work assignments to support manufacturing schedules in machining, chemical and heat process operations.  Provide guidance and assistance to subordinates to ensure work quality and pace.

     

    20% - Maintaining resource readiness and operational compliance (UAW overtime records, Delmia MES, calibrated equipment, inspection logs and systems, process daily checks & TPM)

     

    10% - Coordinate between shifts and manufacturing work centers to ensure hardware velocity.

     

    10% - Responsible for assigned department budget.

     

    10% - Accountable for personnel performance evaluations in accordance with company policies and procedures.

    Requirements

    Requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science discipline and at least nine (9) years of related experience in Quality In-Process Inspection (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

     

    Preferred candidates will also have experience in reading and interpreting drawings and engineering specifications and have a very good understanding of Quality processes. The ability to adapt in a dynamically changing environment is also a necessary skill for this position. Experience working in a bargaining unit environment is also desired. 

     

    US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

     

    Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

     

    • Hands-on working experience in a manufacturing environment and a corresponding understanding of manufacturing processes is essential.
    • Strong leadership, problem solving and written/verbal communication skills are required.
    • Must have the ability to analyze, evaluate and develop solutions to a variety of situations (technical, organizational, etc.).
    • Experience with MS Office products is required.
    • Candidates should possess the skills to coach/mentor individuals to work effectively under time and budget constraints.
    • Must consistently meet commitments.
    • Ability to motivate and inspire change. 

     

     

     

    Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

    Employees must possess the mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

     

    The work environment may also require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat or hearing protection. Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization. Depending on the location of the position, visual certification requirement may apply. The position requires the ability to travel by air or auto.
