Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Manufacturing Technician 2 to join our growing facility in Camden, Arkansas.
Under general supervision and following established policies, performs assignments requiring general use and application of concepts, practices and techniques.
This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.
80% - Development: The technician will support all aspects of development programs including preparing paper work, preparation for cast, propellant/explosive cast, final assembly and shipping. The technician should be flexible with work hours as overtime is common. Technician will perform these duties under the general direction of engineer using established, well defined methods and calculations. The Technician will be required to obtain respirator, forklift, tugger, and hoist certifications and obtain a security clearance.
10% - Mathematical: Perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and simple algebra as required to allow the technician to create mix sheets, and to use process data to fill out TIS sheets for ballistic test motors. These calculations are performed using well defined methods.
5% - Casting: The technician will build up batch check motors and ICCs for most of the lab scale mixes, then cast propellant into the prepared cases and ICCs. Technicians will then cure, strip, clean and assemble the subscale ballistic motors. Technician is responsible for disassembly, cleaning, and re-assembly of subscale casting equipment.
5% - Other duties as assigned. Examples include, but not limited to: Prototype motor casting, prototype motor assembly, development sample preparation, and support of new production initiatives and schedules.
High School diploma or equivalent preferred and 1 year related experience. Must have knowledge of practices and procedures in area of assignment. Math skills, and mixing and casting experience preferred. Must be able to perform diversified but semi-repetitive operations following standardized methods and procedures under changing conditions. Some independent action is required. Ability to perform engineering mathematical calculations as required. Ability to create simple drawings and sketches for communication purposes.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization. Depending on the location of the position, visual certification requirement may apply.
