We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join our growing team in our West Palm Beach, FL location.


In this role, you will provide program Quality Engineering support for assigned contracted programs spanning the life cycle of the program including design, development, production, test and supplier support.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

You will utilize your intermediate knowledge of quality requirements, quality management systems, configuration management principles, and the material review board process.


Working direct general direction and exercising some autonomy, the incumbent in this position will determine and develop approaches to assignments including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for flow down of quality requirements to functional areas. Create and maintain the Program Quality Requirements Summary (PQRS) and other Quality Related Plans based on contract review.
  • Provide input, as requested, for the Request for Proposal (RFP) and the Statement of Work (SOW) during the proposal stage of the program. This review is intended to identify tasks that Quality is responsible for during the development and production phases of the program.
  • Liaison between Process, Program and Customer and the primary point of contact for customer quality concerns.
  • Responsible for representing the quality discipline to the program and communicate program needs to the process management.
  • Review, approve and monitor deliverables and execution to plans.
  • Provide support to all internal hardware assessment reviews, such as engine delivery reviews, component delivery reviews and Supplier data reviews.
  • Manage Program Quality, Reporting & Corrective Action. Participate and facilitate activities of the Corrective Action Board (CAB). Responsible  for managing program related customer and internal escapes, including identification, collection, reporting and corrective/preventive actions may be involved in oversight of suppliers and internal manufacturing operations when there are significant quality concerns.
  • Process Nonconformance documentation and be a member of the Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Generate and review First Article Inspection Plans and reports.

60% - Analyze contractual and specification requirements for the development or modification of methods, procedures, and metrics needed to ensure that quality standards and practices are attained. Review, approve and release work instructions/procedures. Develop processes and systems that ensure the quality, reliability and system safety of company procured products and services.  Understand and interpret required engineering drawings, specifications and technical manuals. Verify compliance with applicable drawings, specifications, procedures, and government requirements.


30%- Provide material review dispositions for nonconforming materials, parts and equipment. Perform corrective/preventive action and root cause analyses to reduce or eliminate nonconformances. Generate and review first articles.


10% - Analyze and compile performance reports and process control statistics in order to determine and improve process capability or product quality and reduce nonconformances.


SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned.


Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline (ex. Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Technology) and at least 2 (two) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information. Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.


Additional Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to understanding and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical manuals.
  • Must be familiar with MS Office software and web-based database applications.
  • Must work well independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written and demonstrate excellent attention to detail during performance of roles and responsibilities. Create and deliver presentations in a clear and concise manner. Excellent problem solving and customer relationship skills are expected.
  • Must be willing and able to travel occasionally.  Must be willing to work all shifts and weekends.
  • High regard for ethics and safety. Employees are expected to comply with Aerojet Rocketdyne's Code of Conduct. Knowledge of safety programs and physical hazard control programs/methodologies associated with the work place, work practices or equipment.

May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat.
