Aerojet Rocketdyne in Redmond, WA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Specialist. At this location, we produce high complexity (low volume) satellite rocket engines and electric propulsion. In this role, you will lead manufacturing activities and work with a cross-functional team of engineers, as well as program management, assembly technicians, and test personnel to ensure quality manufacture of mechanical hardware. Responsibilities include manufacturing process development/maintenance, supplier support, work instruction creation, tool design, personnel training, process ownership, and management of hardware flow through production including budget and schedule.

Working with minimal direction:
10% - Applying company systems and processes to perform a variety of complex manufacturing engineering tasks.
20% - Analyzing and interpreting engineering drawings and documents.
20% - Working on process improvements for our production systems.
20% - Writing work instructions and process instructions to successfully facilitate the build of flight quality hardware.
10% - Assisting in the development of process flows and risk analysis.
10% - Investigating problems which arise in the shops during fabrication or assembly and recommending solutions.
10% - Providing Shop Floor support. Mentor less experienced manufacturing engineering staff.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related major and at least 9 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Must have experience with electro-mechanical assembly and fabrication. Knowledge of machining, brazing, adhesive bonding, GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding), and EBW (electron beam welding) preferred. Experience in the aerospace industry is also highly desired. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to analyze, evaluate and develop solutions to technical problems with minimum supervision. Experience and familiarity with MS Office products required.
