ARDE, an Aerojet Rocketdyne company and recognized leader in the design and manufacturing of spaceflight pressure vessels, is seeking a Manager, Quality & Mission Assurance for our Carlstadt, New Jersey location.
The Manager for Quality & Mission Assurance will report directly to the Director, Engineering and Quality & Mission Assurance for the ARDE site. The position will manage all aspects of product and process acceptance for the products produced at the Carlstadt site. The position will provide leadership and direct oversight to salary and hourly quality team personnel for the following process areas; Manufacturing, Test, Supply Chain and receiving/receiving inspection. The position works seamlessly with the site leaders in Operations, Engineering, Programs and Contracts to achieve the delivery of quality products on time and at cost. This position will assume Q&MA site lead responsibility and accountability to ensure adherence to the quality management system (QMS) and will partner and with extended Aerojet Rocketdyne Q&MA organization on project initiatives.
This facility works a 9/80 work schedule.
40% - Coordinate, lead and provide direct oversight to the Quality Engineering and Quality Control organizations to achieve the site’s annual operating plan (AOP). Interface with peers and program leads on tactical and strategic initiatives to improve business performance and schedule and cost execution.
20% - Develop, align and execute QA resource and staffing plans to align with site plans, manage departmental operating budget and interface with program management/engineering on product acceptance issues. Oversee, coach and mentor management staff that lead QA owned process elements and floor support staff. Coordinate/perform all relevant activities associated with site Quality Management System.
20% - Produce, maintain and proactively address Quality Metrics to enable early detection of adverse trends and expeditiously resolve issues at the earliest possible point in the product life cycle. Champion root cause and corrective action. Support site level and program CAB’s and drive for systemic solutions. Chair site Corrective Action Board (CAB).
20% - Implement proven tools (such as Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, Lean Manufacturing techniques, etc.) to reduce cycle time, improve yield, and reduce QA associated costs. Assess and define required skills and development needs for the Quality Assurance function. Support Aerojet Rocketdyne Business Operating System (ARBOS), the enterprise’s business operating system, with strong emphasis on inspection optimization and continuous improvement.
Position requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and 9 years of direct experience in an assembly, test and manufacturing or production support environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous management with progressive leadership experience is preferred.
