    We are seeking a Analyst - Material Estimator for our Huntsville, AL location. In this role, you will work with Aerojet Rocketdyne Program & Proposal Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations and Contracts to contribute to producing accurate, responsive, compliant, on-time cost proposals. Reports to the Manager, Material Estimating.

     

    This position may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    The Analyst, Material Estimator, contributes to analyzing and auditing the Bill of Materials (BOM) and collecting and summarizing quality analytics for the Pricing and Estimating organization in support of Aerojet Proposals and in compliance with estimating standards and Aerojet procedures. Responsible for reviewing and approving development and production type BOM’s with moderate degrees of complexity and risk including utilizing appropriate methodology and rationale.

     

    The successful individual will work under general direction of more senior estimating team members to determine approach to objectives, demonstrating an understanding and application of principles, concepts and practices. May provide guidance to and check work of less senior estimators on mechanics of tasks and strategies employed.

     

    85% - The Quality Assurance Material Estimator generally performs the following in support of proposals:

    • Work with Material Estimators to obtain the latest BOM and support data to initiate the QA Review process.
    • Conduct audits on Bill of Materials (BOM) processes and identifies issues and collects data to be used in weekly meetings.
    • Ensures Bill of Materials (BOM) activities and items are in compliance with documented Work Instructions and Procedures.
    • Reviews quality system documentation change requests for content and completeness
    • Investigate root cause analysis for quality issues and assist in problem solving.
    • Performs administrative tasks related to audit activities, such as preparing audit meeting agendas, write audit summary reports and facilitates closing meetings.
    • Performs follow up on internal audit related corrective actions to ensure closure and effectiveness.
    • Performs analysis of internal audit data and identify trends. Develop means to ensure process is in statistical control based on upper and low control limits (to be developed).
    • Communicates this information to functional management as an indicator of the quality system effectiveness.
    • Applies clear, concise written language to describe process criteria, activities and decision points.
    • Monitors quality system metrics against goals. If targets are not met, ensures actions are taken to meet the goals.
    • Must maintain a proactive approach on resolving issues; while maintaining a sense of urgency completing assignments on time.
    • Document process or product deficiencies reported weekly
    • Recommend improvements to the processes
    • Develop and modify audit process as results dictate.
    • Review cost estimates, quotes and other relevant data for accuracy and completeness.
    • Focal for all material audit files to insure compliance.

    15% – Maintains estimating system and procedures.

    • Assists process owners in revising existing documentation and processes as part of company-wide continuous improvement initiative.
    • Conceives plans and executes process improvement projects involving the development of new approaches and methods to attain objectives.
    • May provide input to department objectives and long-range goals.
    • Keeps current with programs, customers and Aerojet Rocketdyne program team.
    • Participates in systems and procedures audits.

    Requirements

    Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, business management or manufacturing operations discipline and three (3) or more years directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate US Security Clearance. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

     

    Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

     

         • Understanding of applicable federal acquisition regulations plus a general knowledge of current (TINA) disclosure requirements.
         • Knowledge of algebraic and statistical mathematics, an analytical aptitude, strong oral and written communication skills.
         • Familiarity with estimating and pricing procedures, audit methods.
         • Manufacturing, material planning, finance or supply chain background – or some knowledge of the processes.
         • Basic understanding of Blue Prints / Drawings, Part lists, Manufacturing and Engineering Drawings/BOMs
         • Exceptional in MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
         • Familiarity with aerospace rocket motor program materials and manufacturing processes is a plus.

     

    May require occasional travel and ability to work occasional extended hours when proposal schedules necessitate.

     

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

    Employees in this position must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
