    Aerojet Rocketdyne is expanding in several locations including Huntsville, Alabama! We are excited to about our Huntsville new defense headquarters. Now is an exciting time to join our Contracts team. We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager to join our Contracts Administration team in Huntsville, Alabama.


    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    The Senior Manager of Contracts will negotiate and administer complex contracts, accomplishing results through the supervision of a team of Contract Analysts/Specialists. Establishes policies and procedures.  This position functions as mentor and advisor on all projects and tasks assigned to the organizational group. This position is critical to ensuring the early identification and mitigation of contractual risk, as well as the review and resolution of issues affecting the Company’s compliance with contracts, government regulations and internal directives and procedures.


    25% - Determines priorities, goals, and objectives for the team; plans for successful completion of assigned proposals and contracts; delegates work assignments; provides guidance and direction to team and other functional organizations based on company objectives, directives and procedures; conducts task-oriented training, specialized subject training and promotes the professional development of direct reports; evaluates employee performance against established goals; and leads special projects as assigned and supports both internal and external audit activities.


    20% - Oversees and tracks proposal activities, including the development of proposal assumptions, conditions and revisions to contract language; expedites the proposal review and timely submission of proposals; stays informed about fact-finding and discussions; assists with developing negotiation strategy; ensures scope is defined; assures compliance with technical/schedule requirements; drives closing of contract negotiations and contract formation.


    20% - Oversees contract administration activities, with emphasis on change management, adherence to contract requirements, on-time delivery/performance, cash flow management and administrative closeout. Ensures that transactions are sufficiently documented to maintain a complete record of decisions made, actions taken and approvals obtained in accordance with company directives and procedures.


    20% - Directly responsible for the submittal of proposals, leading contract negotiations and administering contracts for complex, high value proposals and contracts which are critical to the business unit’s objectives.


    15% - Establishes and maintains business relationships with key customers and engages in proactive communications to ensure that customers are apprised of the status of pending proposal submissions, contract deliveries and issues which may impact contract performance.


    Requires Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline and 14 years of progressively responsible experience in Contract Administration preferably in the aerospace and defense industry.


    Additional Requirements:

    • Management experience with demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to plan, organize, coordinate, direct and control the activities of the assigned organization and interface effectively with senior and executive management.
    • Hands-on experience negotiating and administering complex business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) sales contracts with external customers (prime contractors or U.S. Government), with the express authority to sign proposals and contracts on behalf of the company.
    • Exhibit a solid understanding of contracting principles, practices, rules, regulations and procedures of government/defense, including the laws and regulations governing federal, commercial and international business transactions, i.e., federal acquisition regulations (FAR), the sale of commercial items in the federal market, applicable export regulations (ITAR/EAR), etc.
    • Exhibit a strong knowledge of types of contracts and terms & conditions which are common to the federal, commercial and international marketplace.
    • Foster ethical conduct at all times and exhibit the personal integrity required to attract and retain customers in a highly competitive market.
    • Excellent communications skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.


    US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required).

    Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.



    Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

    Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
