Aerojet Rocketdyne offers a complete line of propulsion products for launch vehicles ranging from missile defense to advanced hypersonic propulsion. These products have been used in a wide variety of government and commercial applications, including the main engines for the Space Shuttle, Atlas and Delta launch vehicles, and High Altitude Defense Systems.
We are seeking a HR Business Partner with excellent business orientation and ability to understand business units' specific product/service value proposition and who can translate their HR needs within the larger context of company success and profitability. This position is located at our Defense Headquarters in Huntsville, AL.
This position may be filled at this level or one level higher.
30% - Delivers human resources services to the Huntsville, AL Defense headquarters to assist, guide, and direct business leaders, and align human resources solutions with business needs. Conducts regular meetings with respective business leaders. Analyzes trends and metrics, and collaborates with site leadership team to develop solutions, programs and policies.
30% - Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to business leaders (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). Works closely with business leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention. Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
20% - Provides guidance and input on organization design, workforce planning and succession planning. Identifies and conducts training needs for business units. Prepares reports and analyzes data as needed to support business unit and Company needs. Plan, organize and make presentations to diverse employee groups.
20% - Executes roll out of Company HR initiatives to client groups. Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues through conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations. Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Some travel may be required.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree preferably in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, Business, Industrial Relations or a related field and ten (10) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and generalist experience. Advance degree preferred. PHR/SPHR Certification preferred.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices of human resources management, state and federal labor laws and regulations.
Excellent working knowledge of compensation, benefits, employee relations, organizational development, and training.
Strong communication and teaming/interpersonal skills; strong leadership capabilities, and ability to initiate and maintain cross-functional team relationships.
Ability to act independently and quickly solve problems, make decisions with a strong customer oriented focus.
Ability to conduct investigations and resolve complex employee relations issues.
Solid organizational skills, including the ability to accomplish demanding timeline objectives, managing multiple assignments and be comfortable with change and continuous improvement.

Strong enthusiasm and commitment to the HR profession.
Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
Proficient in MS Office, including EXCEL and HRIS systems. Oracle knowledge/experience a plus.
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Valid Driver’s license required.
