    Our assembly, integration, and test organization is experiencing growth as we are on-boarding development work into our production work centers. We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our assembly & test team located at the Aerojet Rocketdyne Canoga Park (Los Angeles) site.



    This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    50% - Provide in-process technical guidance to production assembly & test processes, disposition discrepant hardware and resolve hardware constraints.


    15% - Utilize process input and output characteristic data (statistical process control, as applicable) to drive process improvement and process control to achieve cost of quality targets. Perform relentless root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to drive towards level 1 mistake proof solutions.


    10% - Analyze performance drivers, utilize Lean manufacturing tools & techniques to implement processing efficiencies to achieve performance/cost targets.


    10% - Define assembly & test process specification requirements. Document lessons learned and incorporate best practices into assembly & test standard work instructions and manufacturing planning.


    10% - Maintain tooling and work center readiness (calibration, preventative maintenance plans, Foreign Object Elimination).


    5% - Identify, report and eliminate unsafe acts & unsafe conditions within assembly & test work areas.



    Requires a B.S degree in an Engineering, Industrial Technology or related technical discipline and five (5) years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.


    US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.


    Additional Requirements:

    • Experience dispositioning hardware and performing root cause analysis.
    • Experience using electronic planning and reading electronic drawings.
    • Strong analytical and communication skills (written and oral) along with the desire to work in a collaborative team environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to organize and complete projects, objectives, and tasks.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Training or experience utilizing Lean manufacturing tools (Kaizen, VSM, 3P, manufacturing std work, process matrices, P-Q analysis).
    • Six Sigma or equivalent statistical process control training/certification.
    • Experience working in a Class 100,000 clean room (smock/gowning required).
    • Experience working in a Foreign Object Debris (FOD) controlled environment.
    • Experience wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including safety glasses & steel-toed shoes.
    • Experience working in a bargaining unit environment.


    Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

    The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
