Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks a full time senior manager for the combined Aerothermal Fluids (ATF) and the Structures and Dynamics (S&D) analysis disciplines in Huntsville, Alabama.
This ATF/S&D engineering senior management position provides leadership support and is accountable for the analysis team’s work scope for AR defense programs with advanced solid propellant propulsion systems. This position requires knowledge and experience leading and performing propulsion system analyses to verify product designs meet thermal and structural performance requirements. These propulsion systems may be used in tactical, strategic and/or missile defense applications.

40% - Manager will provide leadership and direct ATF/S&D analysis technical support in the form of solution development for complex problems, analysis planning, peer review, and formal design review. This support spans all AR development and operational / production programs. These programs include conventional and controllable solid rocket propulsion systems used in tactical, strategic, and missile defense applications. Additional duties include requirements derivation, understanding customer specified aerospace aerothermal and structural requirements, coordinating with other team members for ballistics, loads and material properties data as necessary to support solid propellant propulsion rocket systems.
40% - Manager will perform functional management responsibilities, including proposal manpower and scope estimates/approvals, program staffing, employee skill and career development, performance evaluations, salary planning, work prioritization and technical oversight of employee work products.
10% - Manager will be responsible and direct the development and implementation of ATF/S&D analysis methods, standards, practices, and procedures; act as liaison between ATF/S&D and other engineering disciplines and organizations. Routine reporting and communication with the Design & Analysis Senior Director, ATF/S&D Managers, and engineering managers from other disciplines is also expected.
10% - Manager will provide leadership for the design, development and implementation of product and process improvement and affordability activities. Lead the maintenance and development of a comprehensive suite of technical standard work documents for the ATF/S&D disciplines, structural analysis criteria documents and analysis plans.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related discipline and a minimum of 14 years progressive aerothermal and/or structural analysis experience required. Master’s degree strongly desired. PhD degree is a plus. Strong technical and team-working skills required. Previous lead engineer or management experience is a plus. Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Experience leading ATF and/or S&D analysis efforts for solid rocket motors. Experience leading technical teams performing linear, non-linear and dynamic structural analyses and/or experience leading technical teams performing fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer and ablation analyses desired. Knowledge and experience with aerospace product development efforts required. Experience with solid rocket motors, including filament wound composites and solid propellants, is strongly desired. Experience with high performance computing is strongly desired.
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
