Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks a Manager, Controllable Solid Propulsion Systems Design in Huntsville, Alabama.
This position is responsible for support to Aerojet Rocketdyne’s (AR) growing Mechanical Design Engineering organization and reports to the Senior Manager, Controllable Solid Propulsion Systems Design. This position performs a variety of mechanical design engineering managerial tasks on fast-paced Controllable Solid Rocket Motor development and production programs. Candidate will operate from the Huntsville office.

70% - Primary responsibilities are the leadership and management of development and production of controllable solid rocket motor design engineers and their associated work products. Provide supervision and strong leadership to accomplish complex system level/component design and integration tasks for controllable solid rocket motors on time and within schedule while minimizing technical risk. Primary duties include supporting program chief engineers and Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to successfully manage designs and design processes to meet programs’ cost, schedule, quality, and risk requirements using/improving Enterprise design processes and tools.
10% - Provides internal and external Design Review support to assure product designs meet program requirements, AR design procedures and best practices.
10% - Provides employee mentoring and career development opportunities to increase controllable solid rocket motor system and component design capability across programs. Interprets and applies administrative processes and procedures that affect the engineering staff.
10% - Develops design process improvements, tools and training as needed to streamline Enterprise design costs for programs while also reinforcing design to cost and re-use when possible.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, or related engineering/scientific discipline and nine (9) years of design related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
