We are seeking a Supervisor, Quality & Mission Assurance to join our team in Huntsville, AL. In this role you have the authority and responsibility to effectively communicate and interface daily with company leaders, peers, direct reports, customers (internal and external) and all organizations within the company. You will be responsible and accountable for applying quality principles, technical knowledge and continuous improvement philosophies, leading and directing the daily activities of the Quality Engineering team and cultivating a culture of quality both within the team and across the site. In addition, you will develop and maintain a quality and mission assurance strategy to assure quality products meet customer requirements at the lowest cost.
In this role you will have direct accountability for up to twelve (12) quality engineers, with your team’s primary focus area being Research & Development at our manufacturing facility. Your team will work in conjunction with our enterprise level Research & Development quality team, to ensure we are developing robust processes and quality control to meet our customer requirements in existing, new and emerging markets. Individually, you will also be expected to act as a secondary manager on our production side of the facility as needed.

40% - Manage and develop the program's quality resources. Ensuring appropriate level of quality engineering resources are deployed to support the program and communicating assignments to the quality engineers, mentoring quality engineers in quality tools and sound decision making and making decisions based on known program priorities. This position will interview and hire qualified individuals when necessary to provide the appropriate level of Quality Engineering support to the program. Act as the Cost Account Manager for quality resources on assigned programs.
15% - Produce and implement key preventive and corrective actions on the program through leadership of the Program's Quality Council and Corrective Action Committee (CAC). This task includes, but is not limited to, reviewing and analyzing program data, identifying key weaknesses or process failures, creating plans to prevent or remedy nonconformities and ensure timely execution of agreed upon plans. In addition, provide liaison with the customer community and maintain a positive working relationship.
15% - Assist with the development and/or modification of engineering designs and specification for translation into robust and efficient manufacturing and quality control methods. This includes conducting process failure modes effects analysis and reviewing process planning to ensure all technical requirements are met. Drive consistency through a disciplined approach to following command media and process planning.
15% - Support both Aerojet and vendor production as required. Participate in the disposition of discrepant hardware and the development of preventive and corrective actions.
15% - Provide imaginative, thorough and practical solution to a wide range of technical problems through the application of quality engineering disciplines and tools.
A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline, physical science and at least five (5) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat or hearing protection. Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization. Depending on the location of the position, visual certification requirement may apply. The position requires the ability to travel by air or auto.
