Under general direction, the Senior Engineer, Project/Product determines approaches to objectives demonstrating a complete understanding and application of engineering principles, concepts, and practices.
30% - Researches, develops and supports fabrication of hypersonic engine components using engineering and scientific principles. Coordinate product development from ideas through the product life cycle.
25% - Lead or support engineering teams working on hypersonic propulsion development. Direct and coordinate multi-discipline engineering tasks to meet program requirements. Manage technical progress and cost. Interface with the program manager, product line chief engineer, Aerojet Rocketdyne customers and other Aerojet Rocketdyne functional organizations to understand and develop resolution to program technical issues.
25% - Supplier integration with external vendors. Prepares statement of work, specifications, fabrication and test plans. Coordinates engineering requirements.
10% - Evaluates and verifies product design and performance for adequacy and reliability. Supports investigation and resolution of hardware and process anomalies and issues identified by preventative action/corrective action boards or safety initiative activities.
10% - Develops trade studies, design concepts, systems integration and component-level test plans.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering (or other related field) and a minimum of 5 years of experience on propulsion projects, including engineering team lead experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Engineering development, manufacturing, and supplier integration knowledge desirable. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software required.
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
